History of Alcohol in North Carolina:

Being the first state in Southern America to enact prohibition in 1908, more than a decade before the rest of the country followed. Although illegal in North Carolina, it was still legal right on its border. It is estimated that $10-15 million dollars of alcohol was smuggled into North Carolina from Virginia up north. When the rest of the country repealed Prohibition in 1933, North Carolina was again behind the curve and waited until 1937 to allow alcohol back in its state. As one would expect, prohibition was a failure the rest of the country. Alcohol sales and consumption was still rampant in the entire state and was fully embraced. Many officers would turn a blind eye and would not enforce the law.
    North Carolina Drinking Culture:

North Carolina nets the most tax revenue from alcohol sales compared to its southern neighbors. It’s no secret that North Carolina residents love to drink whether its bar hopping or around a campfire. Much of the state’s drinking revolves around social events and get togethers. North Carolina is famous for its party universities and offer some of the most legendary experiences. Students know how to get wild here so be prepared.
    North Carolina Alcohol Laws:

In North Carolina, alcohol can be sold between 7 am and 2 for both on and off premise sales. On Sunday this is restricted to after noon. All liquor stores in the state and government owned and are the only place to purchase any spirits. Open containers in motor vehicles in North Carolina are forbidden, even if you are just a passenger. It is not a crime to be publicly intoxicated in North Carolina. However, it is a crime if you are a nuisance and can land you a misdemeanor. Just recently in 2021, North Carolina allowed the sale of liquor on Sunday. This of course is too good to be true as the state runs a monopoly on liquor, and ABC stores are closed on Sunday. If you want to get some liquor on Sunday, you must go directly to the distillery which isn’t exactly an easy thing to do for most.

This place is great for watching sports and events and has some great service and drinks. They have a large outdoor patio area so no need to worry about finding a place to sit.

Where should you stay away from?

    1. The Ugly Monkey Party Bar
